Farm-to-Table Signature Experience Food, Fun, and Community
We had a rootin’ tootin’ good time getting down on the farm during our Farm-to-Table Signature Experience at Brightwater, a premier senior living community where meaningful experiences, exceptional dining, and vibrant lifestyles come together.
Senior Activities That Inspire Connection
The week began by planting the seeds of creativity in Jessica’s Craft Corner, where Members potted their own herbs and created fresh, fragrant potpourri. These hands-on activities are just one of the many ways our community encourages creativity, connection, and lifelong learning.
Next, Members gathered for our Berry Sweet Social, enjoying delicious treats including blackberry cobbler, strawberry shortcake, and blackberry lemon cheesecake. Events like these provide opportunities for neighbors to connect while sharing great food and conversation.
The fun continued with a community-wide scavenger hunt, where Members searched high and low for hidden vegetables throughout the community. The lucky winners took home fresh produce from a local farm, bringing the farm-to-table experience full circle.
We also brought the excitement of the county fair right to Brightwater! Members enjoyed classic yard games and carnival activities, from face painting and balloon art to a petting zoo featuring bunnies and reptiles.
A Farm-to-Table Dining Experience at Brightwater
For the grand finale, Members donned their best plaid and gathered in the dining room for the main event: a true farm-to-table dining experience prepared by our talented culinary team. Showcasing ingredients sourced from local and regional farms, the menu celebrated the flavors of the season while supporting local agriculture.
From Farm to Fork
Our farm-fresh feast included:
- Baguette with vine-ripened tomatoes, Pawleys Island Pimento Cheese, and pork rinds
- Baked Lady’s Island oysters with horseradish, spinach, and a buttery herb topping
- Roasted herb-crusted rack of pork from Maypop, South Carolina
- Rosemary-marinated chicken supreme from Prestige Farms, South Carolina
- Mac’s Pride Southern Peach Crisp from McLeod Farms, served with scoops of vanilla ice cream
And what’s a farm dinner without a little bluegrass music? Members tapped their toes to the live tunes of Jason Shore on the mandolin, banjo, and guitar while enjoying every last bite of this memorable meal.
